writing about tech in education for work

This is my work blog for JISC CETIS & the IEC – based at the University of Bolton.

My official job title is Learning Technologist but I think it’s a bit crap so I generally don’t use one. What I do though is work in the area of technology applied to teaching & learning, with a focus on using technology that plays nice together through the magic of open standards.

My particular focus is on web technologies, mobile technologies, augmented reality and stuff like the Internet of Things, Near Field Communications and any other stuff that I find incredibly interesting.

I write about bits of it here.

Snapseed: Photo Editing on iPad

I was rather excited about the Snapseed photo editing app for iPad. Developed by Nik Software, who have created some great Photoshop plugins which I love - notably Silver Efex Pro and Viveza - after watching the Snapseed demo videos on the site I was convinced they’d successfully transported their magic to the iPad. I’m not disappointed.

The app allows you to be as subtle or dramatic as you want to be and their U-Touch functionality plus their incredibly clever interface makes for a photo editing app on the iPad that not only delivers great results but is a real joy to use. Here’s one of my more dramatic outputs from it :)
